  • What do you think about racism?

I think it’s bad and it just shouldn’t exist to be honest, because at the end of the day we’re all people and there’s nothing really that different about us. It’s just because you come from a different place. It’s just the way that the environment has changed people’s skin. It’s not…like, real. It’s not real.

  • How do you feel about celebrities being racist?

Obviously it’s good if [they’re] charged or fired or whatever. Like, whether [they’re] a celebrity or not, the same rules should apply because [they’re] still a person and [they] don’t have the right to be racist towards someone.

  • When do you consider a racist remark to be ‘too old’?

Still said it and like, obviously, they can try and redeem themselves by like making apologies and stuff. But at the end of the day you still said it.

Robbie, Male, 17, Canterbury.

  • What do you think about racism?

It’s pretty disgusting. It still happens unfortunately, because some people feel they can split up people’s differences.

  • How do you feel about celebrities being racist?

It’s not good, it’s never good if anyone’s racist but especially them because they are idols for people.

  • When do you consider a racist remark to be ‘too old’?

Well, I think as long as it doesn’t– Like, say if it’s under the rader, I don’t really care. But if it’s present and people can see it then I don’t like that.

Jamie, Male, 17, Birchington.

  • What do you think about racism?

Racism as a whole is just completely wrong. We shouldn’t be judged based on being different to someone else, be it skin colour or the way someone acts. It doesn’t matter, we’re all human beings at the end of the day. And being different is what makes people interesting and unique.

  • How do you feel about celebrities being racist?

Celebrites, ah– When it comes to celebrities and racism, they don’t have a right to be racist anymore than anyone else does. No one should be racist, just because they’re celebrities doesn’t mean– It doesn’t mean they should be allowed to do this, it doesn’t mean they should be penalized worse for it, they should be treated the same as everyone else. But, I hate how in the media, celebrities are always painted one way or the other. Things can get taken out of context, it’s just– The whole thing in general just isn’t good.

  • When do you consider a racist remark to be ‘too old’?

This is kind of a difficult question. It depends on– If they were said like when they were– Actually, no, I think, even if they– Oh my god this is so difficult.

I feel if they were 14 or younger and it’s like 10 years later or something, then I guess they can be excused for that. I mean, it was a long time ago. I’m sure they might have changed as a person. If they haven’t, they’re bound to do it again – if they definitely do it again, at an older age, then it’s obviously completely wrong.

Taylor, Male, 20, Barnsley.

  • What do you think about racism?

Well, it’s just bad and you can’t just judge someone’s skin colour. We’re all the same, we’ve all got a heart, we’ve all got a brain, we’ve all got two eyes, we’ve all got a mouth, we’ve all got teeth, you know what I mean? Just because of their skin and I mean dark-skinned people were the first on the surface anyway. Started from Africa and worked it’s way up, so, you know.

  • How do you feel about celebrities being racist?

Well, everyone thinks celebrities are the people to look up to, don’t they? So, they can’t, just because they’re more famous doesn’t mean they can be racist. Also can’t be racist to each other, like a black man with a black man, do you know what I mean?

  • When do you consider a racist remark to be ‘too old’?

Never, a racist statement can never be old. I mean, the words always mean something, it always stays, new words coming out.
